This cache placed with permission from Lake Metroarks.
This relatively new park has lots to offer. If you have the time walk the entire .5mile Crooked Tree loop trail. It offers stunning views in all 4 seasons.
RESOURCE CENTER
The Resource Center is located in Madison, Ohio on Palisades Road. This ranch-style cabin with covered front porch is in a semi-secluded area.
This cabin offers:
Two bedrooms, each with two sets of bunk beds
Living room with wood burning fireplace, sofas and Adirondack type chairs and futon
Kitchen with stove and oven, full-size refrigerator, microwave, sink, table and chairs. There is minimal cooking equipment. Place settings for 8
Bathroom consists of toilet, sink and shower over tub
Heated with forced air furnace
Hiking trails and wetland/pond for fishing, within walking distance
Hidden Valley and Hogback Ridge parks within 5 minute drive
Picnic tables, grill and fire ring
Bottled drinking water
Camper will provide own linens and towels
TV with cable.
Wetland Mitigation
Wetland mitigation is a process by which lost wetland areas impacted by development or other activities are mitigated through the preservation, creation, enhancement or restoration of other wetland areas. The regulatory branches of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Ohio EPA typically administer this process.
Since 1994 Lake Metroparks has been an active participant in this process having completed more than 20 mitigation projects ranging from wetland preservation to wetland restoration. Some of the more visible projects include the restoration of Granger Pond at Veterans Park, a series of created wetlands at our Girdled Road Reservation and the purchase of riverfront land at our Chagrin River Park.
