This cache is a portion of the Spokane and Inland Empire Railroad Series which follows the path of the S & IE Railway route from Spokane to Moscow, ID.
As the electric train traveled southward onto Moran Prairie, this spot was where a significant cut through the rock was constructed. This portion of the rail line was constructed in the summer of 1905. By October of 1905 about 75% of the grading was complete and there were over 1000 men working on the line.
Today, the rail line has been converted into a .31 mile biking and walking trail with parking at 57th and Ben Burr Rd.
