Rockingham has a fantastic caching
community and with over 90 geocaches in the area from the coast to
urban parks, and the freeway! So I thought it was time that we all
got together and put faces to names and had a geocaching
event.

The event will
run from 10.30 – 12.30 (the gates of the forest will be
opened at 1000 and closed at 1300, for those that want to do lunch
and have an explore!).
The guys from
Magellan are coming down to talk about GPSr’s, so any
questions or advice on how to use them, or for any hints and tips
they will be on hand. Also if you are looking for a Christmas
present then there will be opportunity to buy the eXplorist GC at a
discounted price. They have also offered an unactivated Magellan
eXplorist geocoin for the raffle (which I want!) - but they do want
it to be registered and sent off into the
goeverse!
The Baldivis
Children’s Forest is an area of 49 acres located
approximately 50km south of Perth at 1399 Mandurah Road, Baldivis,
Western Australia. It includes remnant Tuart woodlands and a
portion of the Conservation Category wetland Outridge Swamp. In
2000 this site was chosen for revegetation activities following
concerns by local school children about the clearing of bushland in
the Baldivis district for housing.

Baldivis
Children’s Forest offers parking, toilets, BBQs and picnic
tables. There is only bore water so bring your own
drinks.
There is going
to be a sausage sizzle to raise money for the Baldivis
Church Building
fund. We will also have some bottled
water for sale on the day.
We also have
had some kind offers of some raffle prizes from Jockaroo –
Australian Geocaching store (based here in Perth) http://www.jockaroo.au.com/ who will also be selling
those essential geocaching items (Christmas will only be a week
away, so great ideas for presents!).
We will also
have some un-activated geonomes coming from the UK, courtesy of
Zensunni, who is also bringing their own geonomes to be discovered.
Raffle tickets will be sold on the day with all proceeds going to
the Baldivis Children's Forest . So don’t forget to bring
some money!
There is also
another international contingent coming from the UK,
stringerscraven – who only arrive the day before so may not
remember much of the event! But we are hoping they will bring some
trackables to be discovered and moved on.
