Geocache Description:

He is not the messiah. He is just a very naughty geocacher.

My cartographic consultant supplied information that at 936m Mount Bryan is the highest peak in the Mount Lofty ranges. Mount Bryan was discovered in December 1839 by Governor George Gawler, who named it in honour of Henry Bryan, a young man who became lost and perished of thirst during Gawler's expedition. Among those accompanying Gawler were Charles Sturt and Henry Inman. There are three ways to approach the peak. The Heysen Trail crosses the peak. From the east the approach distance is 2km. Allow 1 hour for the walk up and 30 minutes for the walk down. The discrepancy tells you something about the gradient. The trail from the west is at least a 4km walk. With all that equipment up there you know that some can drive by. The road approach is from the north. Distance about 5km. The gates are locked to all but the privileged Romans. There is a peak log book to sign and a seat to relax and enjoy the wonderful 360 degree view. If you are lucky the breeze will only be a gentle gale. Remember to wear appropriate clothing and take plenty of water. As you wander up the hill here is a song to sing. Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best... And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life... If life seems jolly rotten There's something you've forgotten And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps Don't be silly chumps Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing. And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life...
