Sontheimer Tropfsteinhöhle (limestone cave)
Die Sontheimer Höhle (früher auch Sontheimer Erdloch genannt) ist eine Tropfsteinhöhle mit einer Länge von 530 Metern (davon 192 Meter für Besucher begehbar). Sie ist die wohl die älteste Schauhöhle der Schwäbischen Alb.
The Sontheim Cave (formerly known as Sontheim Burrow) is a limestone cave with a length of 530 meters (thereof 192 meters walkable for visitors). The cave is one of the oldest showcaves of the Swabian Alb.

Geologie
Man betritt die Höhle durch ein zwölf Meter hohes Portal. Die Höhle besteht aus zahlreichen Hallen mit außergewöhnlichen Tropfsteinen. Viele hohe Kamine säumen den Weg durch die Höhle. Über Stufen geht es abwärts bis zum tiefsten Punkt der Höhle, der 20 m hohen Schlusshalle. Bis zu der 70 Meter vom Eingang entfernten Engstelle wird die Höhlentemperatur noch von der Außentemperatur beeinflusst, danach beträgt die Temperatur konstant 7°C.

Geology
The height of the front gate of the cave is 12 meters. The cave consists of numerous halls with impressive lime stones. There are a lot of chimneys along the way. The lowest point of the cave with a depth of 70 meters is accessible by the use of a stairway. At the end of the cave there is the famous hall "Schlusshalle" with a height of 20 meters. The temperature in the cave is affected by the outside temperature, but only of a distance of 70 meters from the front gate. Behind this narrow point there is a steady temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.

Samstags: 14.00 Uhr bis 17.00 Uhr
Sonntags: 10.00 Uhr bis 17.00 Uhr
Führungen finden jeweils zur vollen Stunde statt. Die Höhle ist von Anfang November bis Ende April geschlossen.

Saturday: 2 p.m. till 5 p.m.
Sunday: 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.
A guided tour starts every clock hour. The cave is closed from the beginning of november until the end of april.
