Geocache Description:

Camouflaged bison tube.

Thought about calling this one "King of the Hill", which is what you are when you get here.

Parking well off the road is available, but it is a busy highway so exercise due caution. Don't let the kids help on this one -- they can watch and advise from the geomobile.

This is one of a pair for travelers going in opposite directions. If you try for both on one trip be extremely careful and patient before reversing your direction.

There is a sign just next to GZ in memory of Deputy Gene Ashe. The road you are driving was renamed in his honor. A fellow cacher recently thought it would be only fitting if he looked him up. The following is what he found on the web site "odmp.org".

Deputy Ashe was killed in the line of duty on April 13, 1995. Here is the story behind that headline.

Deputy Ashe suffered a fatal heart attack following a high speed pursuit that went through narrow, steep mountain roads in three different counties. The officers were chasing a driver who was a member of a local militia movement that refused to register their vehicles or obtain license plates.

The chase started when a deputy attempted to stop the driver for not having a license plate. Deputy Ashe was found in his patrol car at approximately 12:15 am after breaking off from the chase. The suspect was released from jail in 2002 after serving only five years.

Deputy Ashe had been in law enforcement for 17 years.

So although this cache is titled something else, here is the story behind the name of the road.

Special thanks to "blue0745" for doing this research.
