This is our first attempt at a night cache.
And as this is our first cache, we have made it a nice and easy one, especially for those who have not had the opportunity to do one before.
There will be harder ones to come.
We were first introduced to Night Caches when we were in Wagga for the Mega Event, and just new we had to try one ourselves.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE LISTED COORDINATES.
THE LISTED COORDINATES IS WHERE YOU WILL BE STARTING THE CACHE HUNT
This type of hunt is to be done when the sun is fully down to be able to see the tacks the easiest.
You will find 2 WP's listed.
WP1 is where you leave the road and head into the bush to the starting point, or you can leave your car here and walk up the track to the starting point.
WP2 is where you will be starting the hunt from. There is room here to park your car.
STEP 1 - Once at WP2 you will need to locate the correct tree marked by 2 fire tacks at around about 2m above ground level.
STEP 2 - You will find it easier to find the trail marked with single fire tacks attached to tree trunks by holding your torch at eye level. So, once STEP 1 is done, you will need to move your torch around slowly until you locate a tree truck that has a fire tack on it.
STEP 3 - Walk to that tree trunk that has the fire tack in it and repeat STEP 2 until you find the next fire tack.
You will be required to do this several times until you locate a tree trunk that has 2 fire tacks in it. Here you will find something attached to the tree that will give you the last 5 digits of the S & E coordinates of where the final cache location is.
You do not need an overly bright torch to find locate the fire tacks, but it is handy to have one to see where you are going.
Please take care when walking in the bush at night and watch your step.
We recommend that you wear sensible shoes and long pants for this hunt.
The cache you are searching for is a 700ml Starmaid Container which has plenty of room for swaps, has a log book and pen.
PLEASE REHIDE THE CACHE AS YOU FOUND IT, as this is a high muggle area by day.
