Geocache Description:

Cache in one of the new state parks.

In 1999 Helen McNitt donated 133 acres of land to New York State to be used as a public park.In 2008 a parking area was installed by the state along with a port- a -potty. Plans are in the works to create a 1 mile hiking trail thru the hardwood forest at the site. With over 1300 feet of shoreline the park is used mostly by fishermen with the heavest action coming in the winter months. This has become a popular spot to gain access to the lake for ice fishermen.
Lorenzo historic park is the states site near here that maintains McNitt and where a state park permit was obtained. The state does not allow caches at a state historic site so they had no idea how to work the permit process but I steered them thru it. I even got to make up the permit number code so cool.
The cache was first -placed 12 feet up in the nearby Maple tree but the state permitting system doesn't like that idea(no climbing for a cache). So come and look elsewhere.
State Park Permit # Lorzen -01
