This is one of a number of caches placed in and around the village of Hammerwich in Staffordshire,it gets its name from the old English hamor(by a hill)and wic(place) the village overlooks the old Roman road Watling Street. The Lectocetum Roman site is one mile away in Wall.
The feild were the Staffordshire Hoard was found in 2009 is less than a mile away .
We have used small cache boxes big enough for a note pad and pen + a few bits and bobs for the geokids .The terrain is generally good ,long grass in parts but not muddy. Keep an eye on geokids near disused rail tracks .
Best parking Station Rd or Church Lane
