Geocache Description:

Potentially tricky 1/4 mile hike through the woods to find the Mystical Pine Tree. If you like easy park-n-grabs then this isn't for you. However, if you want a good challenge that requires your GPSr every step of the way (in and out) then this is the one for you! It may be hard but should be fun.

The physical cache container is not that hard to locate; however the "mystical" pine tree and ground zero is!

I would not recommend this for kids under 12. There are some steep drops, few trails, and plenty of obstacles that make this kind of like a maze. I would not attempt this at night or during wet weather. Major bushwhacking may be needed depending on which route you take in and out, we're talking 10 foot cat tails in some areas. These can be avoided though and some of the locals clear paths that you can take for a while, but they do not lead directly to the mystical pine tree however.

I would not recommend this in the wet season without boots. In the summertime you could do it in walking shoes but you will pick up burs. Bugs and mosquitoes where not a problem at all when I placed it but I imagine they could be bad in the spring and early summer. I have no idea what this will be like it in the snow - let me know! I did notice a hunting blind back there so be careful during that season (you will almost certainly see a deer or two).

Do not attempt this from I96, this is not a drive-by grab. I looked and there is a fence.

When you finally find and open the geocache you will definitely FEEL GOOD!  It is a med-large Lock & Lock type container with room for trade items.

Once you are done signing the log book it will hit you that you still need to find your way out!!  Both times I made the trip I had more trouble finding my way out than I did in.  You will need your GPSr so you don't come out on private property. Fix coordinates on the parking area waypoint if you didn't mark your entry point.

Plan on at least 45 minutes to an hour.

This is totally undeveloped state land.

Note: if you look at the satellite imagery you may see a house at the designated parking area.  This old house was removed a few years ago and this area is now a public community garden with a drive and parking.  Head into the woods and down the hill from this area.  You could head in from the Pinetree bridge but that would be an even longer hike.

Congrats to thevidas for an astonishingly quick FTF!  .
