Riesensandstein
DEUTSCH:
Sandstein entsteht durch die Verkittung (Zementation) von lockerem Sand und hat daher die gleichen Entstehungsbedingungen wie dieser. Er ist im Gegensatz zu chemischen und biogenen (von Lebewesen abgelagerten) Gesteinen wie Kalkstein oder Kohle klastischen Ursprungs, besteht also aus Trümmern verwitterter und abgetragener Gesteine. Da Quarz ein relativ verwitterungsresistentes Mineral ist, welches außerdem in sehr vielen Gesteinen vorkommt, reichert es sich beim Verwitterungs- und Transportprozess stark an, während andere Mineralkörner zerfallen. Deshalb bestehen die Sandsteine ganz überwiegend aus diesem Mineral.
Die wichtigsten Entstehungsräume für Sandsteine sind die Meere, dabei vor allem die küstennahen Flachmeere, die Schelfe. Der Sand stammt aber meist vom Festland und wird durch Flüsse und Meeresströmungen an seinen endgültigen Ablagerungsort transportiert. Es gibt aber auch zahlreiche Sandsteinvorkommen, die auf dem Festland entstanden sind. Dabei überwiegen die fluvialen, das heißt die von Flüssen abgelagerten Sandsteine deutlich über die vom Wind abgelagerten.(Quelle: Wikipedia).
Dieser Sandstein stammt aus einer Sandgrube, die eine ehem. Baufirma in den 90er Jahren oberhalb von diesem Stein eingerichtet und ausgeschöpft hat. Die so entstandene Grube wurde als Erdkippe genutzt und verfüllt.

1. Welche Maße hat der Stein an seiner längsten und breitesten Stelle in Metern?
2. In welche Himmelsrichtung zeigt die lange Spitze des Steins?

Sandstone originates from the cementation of loose sand and, hence, has the same origin terms like this. He is in contrast to chemical and biogenic (from living being mature) to rocks like limestone or coal of "klastischen" origin, exists of remains of weather-beaten and outworn rocks. Because quartz is a mineral relatively resistant to decomposition which seems, moreover, in a lot of rocks, it accumulates with the decomposition and transport process strongly, while other mineral punches disintegrate. Therefore, the sandstones exist quite predominantly of this mineral. The most important origin rooms for sandstones are the seas, besides, above all the shallow seas close to coast, the shelves. However, the sand mostly comes from the mainland and is transported by rivers and sea currents to his final deposition place. However, there is also numerous sandstone occurence which has originated on the mainland. Besides, predominate fluvialen, that is the sandstones mature by rivers clearly about from the wind to mature ones. (Spring: Wikipedia).
This sandstone comes from a sandy pit, former. Construction company in the 90s above this stone has furnished and has exhausted. The so resulted pit was used as an earth spring and was filled.
