to get into baseball's hall of fame, a player has to be among the greatest the game has ever known. out of more than 16,000 men who have played the game, only 237 players have been inducted so far (as of july 2010). among the inductees are many lesser known players, like wee willie keeler (inducted in 1939) and johnny evers (1946). there are also many household names among the enshrined, such as honus wagner and ty cobb (both inducted in the HOF's first year, 1936), as well as lou brock (1985) and bill mazeroski (2001).
