Geocache Description:

A local history location in a rural farming setting. Although the road is not busy, please be aware of traffic near the site. The bridge has just completed a redesign and renovation

I have been told that this is like many canals on the floodplain of the Shoalhaven River, were dug out by convicts in the 1800s. They were dug wide enough for barges to carry goods to and from the farms to the Shoalhaven River. Bullocks were often used to pull the barges along the canals Fact or Fiction?? An interesting thought and an interesting monument is not far away. S 34 54.683 E 150 40.285 In repect, I do not leave caches in these locations. Perhaps someone could share the story of this monument.
