Details of the name
The cache is NOT at the above coordinates!! This is a puzzle
cache so you will need to figure out where it is!! You should
PARK at the above coordinates and hike to the cache.
S. F. B. Morse is the name of a road near this cache. There is also
a "S. F. B. Morse Botanical Reserve" nearby.
Samuel F. B. Morse was the developer of the Pebble Beach property.
He was head of the "Del Monte Properties" for many
years.
But wasn't Samuel F. B. Morse one of the co-inventors of the
telegraph? Wasn't the coding scheme used to transmit messages over
the telegraph called Morse Code?
Morse only invented the part of morse code for numbers. Alfred Vail
expanded the code to include letters and some symbols and is
responsible for the very clever use of shorter codes for more
commonly occurring letters. However its still called Morse
code.
BUT WAIT!!
Wasn't the telegraph invented long before Pebble Beach was
developed?
Pebble beach was developed by
Samuel Finley Brown Morse (1885-1969)
and the telegraph co-inventor was
Samuel Finley Breese Morse (1791-1872),
(the Pebble Beach Morse's great uncle).
(Pebble Beach Morse and Telegraph Morse)
NEVERMIND ! !
This is a cache about S. F. B. Morse (whoever he was) and we aren't
going to let such details interfere!
The cache is hidden on the del Monte (Pebble Beach) property in
what is commonly known as the "SFB Morse Botanical Reserve".
Technically where the cache is placed is called
"Huckleberry Hill Natural Reserve".
Not to be confused with the the
"Huckleberry Hill Nature Reserve"
which is a Monterey city park on the other side of highway
68.
Now that we have all the names straight, you will need the
