For those from outside Macclesfield I've included a link to the wikipedia entry.
If you're doing the skeg to ness series and fancy a break in Macclesfield this cache should take ~ 1 hour excluding finding time.
I've made this a 4* difficulty as you have clues to find, sums to do (a calculater may help), and I'm not giving a hint for the final location.
This cache is in 2 parts. #1 You will have to walk through the town center of Macclesfield, past the silk museum and through the back streets to a real hidden gem of the town. You will need a pen and paper to write down some numbers, and use them when you get to location #4. Parking is available on the other side of the road to #4.
On working out the co-ordinates it should be a 10 minute round trip to retrieve the cache.
To get the final location solve these clues.
Final cache = N 53 degrees a.b W 002 degrees c.d
Location #1 - In front of you are some steps, count the number of steps and subtract 92 to give the a co-ordinates. Hint when you get to the top look at the name of the road you've just climbed.
Location #2 - Look at the statue and find the writing 6th Day of "month" 1846. Taking january as 1 and December as 12 add 52 to the "month" to give the b co-ordinates - this number is less than 100 so remember to put the zero into your gps.
Location #3 - They sell more than "x" varieties here, divide the number by 10 and add 1 to give the c co-ordinates.
Location #4 - Add up all the miles on the marker (both sides). Multiply this number by 12 and then add 16 to give the d co-ordinates.
