Geocache Description:

Thanks to the city of Lafayette, this area was recycled from a previous gasoline station that was unoccupied for many years. The art and additional landscape has recently been added by the Mayor's Youth Council.
This is a high muggle area.

"Launched Ribbon," an outdoor metallic sculpture that has been a part of the Lafayette art scene for decades, was rededicated in a ceremony at the pocket park at the corner of Main and Kossuth streets.
The sculpture, which once stood in front of the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette, was donated to the city in 2007. Since then it was refurbished and then placed late this summer in the tiny park near the busy intersection.

The piece, by artist Dorothy Muriel Gillespie, was first dedicated in 1984.

A number of local companies, including Alcoa and Fairfield Contractors, helped with the project, with Alcoa contributing the estimated $12,000 needed to refurbish the sculpture.
