I WILL ACCEPT A PHOTO OF YOU HOLDING THE CACHE AND CAMO IN YOUR HAND IF YOU ARE NOT 150% SURE YOU CAN RETRIEVE, SIGN AND REPLACE WITHOUT LOSING GOLLUM - YOU WILL NEED A WATERPROOF CAMERA/DEVICE. D/T is based upon the original hide - that has been changed twice now. I don't want to change it and take the D/T away from the earlier finders. You need a boat or need to swim, so the T5 remains, but the D is a tad easier.
Gollum, originally known as Sméagol (T.A. c. 2430 – 25 March 3019), is a fictional character from J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. He was first introduced in the author's fantasy novel The Hobbit, and later became an important supporting character in its sequel, The Lord of the Rings.
Gollum was a Stoor Hobbit of the River-folk, who lived near the Gladden Fields. They loved the river, and often swam in it, or made little boats of reeds. Smeagol (aka Gollum) was the most inquisitive and curious-minded of the family. He was interested in roots and beginnings; he dived deep into pools; he burrowed under trees and growing plants; he tunnelled into green mounds; and he ceased to look up at the hill-tops, or the leaves on trees, or the flowers opening in the air: his head and eyes were downward. He had a friend called Deagol, sharper-eyed but not so quick and strong. Once they took a boat and went down to the Gladden Fields, where there were great beds of iris and flowering reeds.
Originally known as Sméagol, he was later named Gollum after his habit of making a horrible swallowing noise in his throat. His life was extended far beyond its natural limits by the effects of possessing the One Ring, and he became obsessed with the Ring that had enslaved him, to the point that he pursued the Ring for the rest of his life after losing it to Bilbo Baggins.
Gollum had lived under the Misty Mountains for centuries, living on a small island in the centre of a lake at the roots of a mountain. He survived on cave fish, which he caught from his small boat, and small goblins who strayed too far from the stronghold of the Great Goblin. Over the years, his eyes adapted to the dark and became 'lamp-like', shining with a sickly pale light in the dark.
One of his riddles to Bilbo was:
Alive without breath,
As cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking,
All in mail never clinking.
This cache is a blinkie. There are gold Middle Earth coins for the first 5 to find (one each please). Please please use stealth and re-hide carefully!!!!!
