Depot creek starts in Whatcom
County, Washington, and flows into Chilliwack Lake. It is
thus named because this area was the site of an old trading
post. In days of old it made sense to bring goods over the
mountains from the USA and float them across Chilliwack Lake.
And of course, no doubt, there was two way trade happening
here. We can now keep on the old tradition and continue
trading, and do hope that some of our friends to the south can make
it up here to partake.
It is a bumpy ride along the
Chilliwack FSR road to get to this site, but well worth the
patience and time getting here. Although I did travel to this
site in a small Ford Focus, vehicles with higher clearance won't
have to be so wary of protruding rocks in the roadway.
There are a fairly reasonable
amount of goods to trade in the cache.
CONGRATULATIONS to irlpguy and
solonm for getting the FTF: Book of short stories, "A Beaver
is Eating My Canoe".
