Thrill on Blueberry Hill Traditional Cache

One of our favorite places in Sitka, this mountain sits at an elevation of 2367 ft. The drive from town takes around 30 minutes and requires that the snow is gone from the road which takes you up to the top of Harbor Mountain. There are four gates along the way that may be closed due to snow pack. At the first gate, there will likely be a notice indicating if all the gates are open. Once you make it to the parking lot, follow the gravel trail until it appears that you will be going up a steep slope. Yep, that's the one. Rocks can be very slippery. If worried about the terrain, there is another path on the East side of the this mountain top, and you will have to take the main path a bit longer before turning to go up the mountainside. It can be muddy. Blueberries cover this area, enjoy them! On a clear day, you get one of the best views of Sitka and of our local volcano. Make sure you bring your camera! It is probably a 45 minute hike from the parking lot to the cache.
