Lester Vernon Jones, my father, loved Ebbetts Pass. When I first
moved up here my dad and I went fishing quite a few times in the
creeks and rivers on the pass. He was always in a hurry to get to
these spots,so we'd drive speed of sound to get there and get the
fish. One trip up here took me by suprise. He stopped the ole rust
bucket next to steep cliff . He looked dazed when I stared at him.
He took a deep breath and said , These are the most beautiful
mountains in California aren't they? Back then I said sure dad
whatever you say. Now that I'm older and a little wiser I drive up
here thinking the same thing , WOW THEY ARE ! locate this cache and
turn around and sit a moment and tell me what you think about the
view from what I call Memorial Rock. By day he was a backhoe
operater and on the weekends a huge race fan. In the cache you'll
find a FTF compass , a Richard Petty car and a few tractors for the
kids. Please replace the cache where you found it and trade equally
. don't forget to log your visit. This cache was placed in honer of
my father. Lester Vernon Jones April 12,1943 to March 13,1999.
