This is my first regular size cache box. Let's make it a little bit special - to make this more fun, I decided to make it an easy multicache.
Lau Fau Shan, a small fishing village on Deep Bay (Western New Territories), was once famous for its oysters, which were cultivated here for several hundred years. About 100 tons were harvested every year, some for consumption in Hong Kong restaurants and some for export to neighboring countries. Little remains of this today.
As the storage and repair of containers for the nearby container port of Kwai Chung is more lucrative and less time-consuming than cultivating oysters, most of the inhabitants of Lau Fau Shan have given up oyster culture. Increasing contamination of the water was an additional factor in the decline of the village's traditional activity. However the actual fishing village with its excellent seafood restaurants is still well worth a visit. In the narrow main street a variety of fish and seafood, vegetables and meat are offered for sale, and there are small restaurants which serve fresh fish bought to order from the neighboring stalls. Here, too, stands a 1500-year-old temple founded by the legendary monk Pui To, who is said to have landed on this coast in a wooden tub.
On top of a small hill nearby, you can find an abandoned police station built in 1962. Of course, what really being attractive to visitors and photographers is the scenic view, especially the sunset.
The cache's final location is quite near to a place that you can enjoy the great sunset!
To reach the starting point, you may:
(1) Take bus No. K65 from West Rail Tin Shui Wai Station to Lau Fau Shan (terminus);
(2) Take minibus No. 35 at Tai Fung Street in Yuen Long.
At the given coordinates, find the Posting Box No. 173, look for the sentence:
"The nearest posting box is No. (a) (b) (c) located at....."
The final destination that you can fine the container is at (format is DM.m):
N 22° (a)(b) . (a)0(c-a)(b)(b)
E 113° (c-a)(c+a) . 0(c)(b)(c)
The terrain 2.5 is for the destination. Please, please be extermely careful when you are retrieving the cache. Safety is your priority. Please also cover the container the best you can, since the destination can be full of muggles around.
