This is the first in a series of caches intended to provide some insight into the local history of Littleton, Massachusetts. Information needed to solve puzzles should be easily attained via internet research...
The cache is not at the listed coordinates, but it may help and it is within the boundaries of the town of Littleton, MA! ---- Littleton is a town located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Prior to Colonial settlement the area was inhabited by the Nashoba band of the Nipmuc tribe, part of the Algonquin Nation. The colonists first settled in what is now Littleton in the early 17th century and officially incorporated as a town in 1714. Originally, the settled area was known a Nashobah or Concord Village, a "frontier" section of Concord, MA. This initial settled area was located in the area of Great and Powers Rd, Littleton. Prominent among these families was Walter Powers whose estate had been called the "Powers Farm" and "Nashoba Farm". Up to the last 40 - 50 years, Littleton was considered a farming community with some industry, but now has transitioned to a residential community with only a few working vegetable and dairy farms.
Geographically, Littleton is a small town by comparison and hence its name...or is it? To find the cache you must research the town name origin and identify the "difference" that will serve as the "key" to solving the puzzle. Good Luck!
