Geocache Description:

A hidden cove. This area is officially known as White Bluff, or Tetapere in Maori.

A short walk around the coast from Hillsborough Bay (or from the other direction, but not sure about access). Walk will take you past rugged, actively eroding cliffs, with Pohutukawa trees hanging by their roots. There are some good examples of steeply dipping/folded sedimentary strata (probably siltstone/sandstone) protruding from the beach and cliffs, while visible across the Manukau lies the more recent volcanic Mangere Mt. There is also an interesting perspective of Ambury Farm from GZ.

The destination is somewhat secluded, and difficult or impossible to reach at high tide, so please check the tide link below. Guessing you should avoid the 2 hours before high tide, and 1 or 2 hours after. Sturdy shoes advisable due to an abundance of very sharp broken shell.

Best parking, and a nice picnic spot and playground, is at 36D 55.757' 174D 45.572'. Note: there is a path leading upwards from the carpark, above the cliffs - this is not the way to go, but might be worth an explore...
