An offset cache placed near Nelson City highlighting one of Nelson's early pioneers and my Great Grandad. You will need to bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log.
Go to the published co-ordinates where you will find an information sign. Read about early settler Appo Hocton on the sign to work out the final co-ordinates for the cache:
A = Date (Day) he was naturalised
B = Last digit of the year he died
C = Number of times he was married
D = Last digit of the year he moved to Dovedale
E = How many cottages did he build for lease?
F = His age when he left his homeland, less 4
