Geocache Description:

Mount Lion, 395 m elevation and part of the Te Whara/Bream Head trail.Start point is from the Urquharts bay carpark ,follow the marked graveled trail until you spot the DOC sign at the edge of the bush to the left(see photo). There is also a detailed map displayed at the carpark .A reasonable level of fitness is required as parts of the track can be steep and slippery. From the bottom of the track to the summit/cache should take about an hour , mostly shaded by bush with occasional views over Smugglers Bay. I suggest plenty of drinking water for the hike.Cache is a "robust" 750 ml container placed near the top of the wooden stairway(the one with handrails) about one minute down from the summit. There is a spoiler photo for those who want to view it as I would hate to see anybody put in this much effort and have a DNF (although cache is easy enough to locate).I also noticed a pile of timber dropped in the bush by chopper so hopefully a much deserved seat at the top might be in the pipeline. No dogs due to Kiwi zone and please ensure you re-hide the cache well, covering with leaves etc.
