Here's another in my series of hides near fire lookouts. This is Crane Point Lookout, 6414', in the Malheur National Forest.
This site was established in the 1930's with a firefinder and a cabin. The living quarters are long gone. There is an existing platform atop the rocks with a firefinder stand, but I'm not sure it dates back that far. Fire crews still use this vantage point on their patrols.
You can drive all the way to the site. You can make it there without 4WD if the roads are dry. You might want something with clearance though. Winter access requires alternate transportation.
You're looking for a small camoed plastic container.
