This cache is near the former site of the town hall of the extinct Bankton community. This area was homesteaded in the 1920's and vacated by about 1940.
The cache in the Beltrami Island State Forest and is accessed via the Bankton Forest Road. This road winds along the course of the North Branch of the Rapid River. This road may not be plowed in the winter. The homesteaders in this area all departed 70 years ago. Some signs of their labors remain. There are a couple of small pioneer cemeteries along the Bankton Forest Road, one less than ¼ mile east of the cache site.
