This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

The history in this area is known for the numerous coal miners and the many men who risked their lives on a daily basis to mine for it. In particular, were young lads referred to as The Breaker Boys, whose responsibilities were to sift through coal and shale. This era has been preserved in many pictures and are also dispalyed at the Smithsonian Institute and the Anthracite Museum. In this area cachers may come upon old remnants of the powder house which used to contain the explosives for the local mines.

This is not to be intended as a hard find, however of historical importance. The local Fire Department is located on land once owned by the coal company and Breaker Number 9. The Fire Station recently celebrated it's 100th Anniversary of continous operation, since 1908.

Please park at the basketball court and walk over. N 41 19.632 W 075 46.290
