Geocache Description:

This Cache is dedicated to the memory of a well known Cacher that passed away on March 10th 2009.

The real challenge is not on making the find, it's how stealthy you can be when making the find... This is an extremely open area where you can be seen by up to hundreds of muggles while searching!

PLEASE DO NOT park on the main road next to cache, please utilize parking area near GZ. Safety first! Also, please return the hide exactly as you found it, thanks!

Backstory: Many people had met the man that went by the name wkellogg01, and his unexpected passing shocked all of them. This hide is like some of his own hides. He once described his methods as lame hides with the challenge of the searcher having to use utmost stealth.

tamaranathan said this in the initial post notifying those of GONIL of his passing:"wkellogg01 lived in Rockford and made a long caching commute every day to work at Discover in Riverwoods. I had the pleasure of meeting him on the trails a few times during lunchtime outings and caching with him. He was on a rapid pace to hit 1000 finds before he abruptly stopped caching at the end of July.

lucy (lucy92979) had this to say: "We were taken aback to hear this last weekend. tishman had Warren's commemorative hide ready to go last year as we were watching his 1000th milestone fast approaching. When he seemed to abruptly stop we emailed him several times but he never replied.

We had met and talked to Warren more than a few times. We enjoyed his hides and his enthusiasm for geocaching. We were shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends."

Even though I never met him, I chose to place this cache in his memory. He still has a few active caches West of here further into Rockford. Those hides are good caches and are maintained by myself and other local geocachers. If you are here visiting Rockford or are new to Geocaching in general, I invite you to make an effort to find those last few.

Here is a bookmark list of his remaining active caches in Rockford that remain active with logged finds (with exception of !O which is East towards Chicago): wkellogg01's Legacy

Congrats to CasheNCarry for FTF!!!
