Geocache Description:

Second of my Parks and Recreation Caches, meant to bring people to local parks to enjoy them.
3 Stage Multi-Cache.
Coords get you right to stage one
Park hours are 9am - 9pm

I'd like to thank the Butler Historical Society, for the information on the park. And the Actual Parks and Recreation Committee for allowing me to place these caches.

  • 1903 - 1935 (approx dates) Alameda Park was a Trolley Park (people took the street car or trolley from downtown butler to the amusement park for the day)
  • At one time there was a lake, a carousel, roller coaster, picnic grove and 3-story pavilion for dancing.
  • Park still exists as a community park. Carousel pavilion still in use as a picnic area popular for family reunions.
  • Park is approximately 400 Acres, mostly wooded.
Alameda Park opened in 1901
July 4th, 1901V Butler Traction Co. (Later named Butler Passenger Railroad Co.)
Attractions included
1. Huge Ferris Wheel
2. Roller Coaster
3. Dodge'em Cars
4. a small lake for Boat Rides
5. Merry Go Round
6. 3 Story Pavilion (Roller Skating Rink, Restaurant)
7. Tennis Courts
8. Ice Cream and Popcorn Stands
9. 5 cent street car ride to the park

Parks are all about Family, so the final is a regular sized cache aprox: 2-Gal Bucket, camo painted and well hidden about 10 feet off a trail.
