Geocache Description:

Located at the bottom of Clark's Gully, just outside Naples. Park at 42 39.653N, 77 19.898W.

This cache is located at the south end of Clark Gully, just outside the boundary of the Hi Tor Wildlife Management area. The cache is a cammo lock 'n lock located in the gully.

Once you have located the cache and signed the log, PLEASE consider travelling another 500 feet up the gully onto Hi Tor. While the lower gully isn't very scenic, at 42 39.829 N, 77 20.089 W you will come upon the 20 foot high waterfall known as "The Tongue". It is a unique falls that few know about but is well worth visiting. Note that legend has it that Clark Gully is the birthplace of the Seneca indians. Keep that in mind as you admire the waterfall and treat this area with all of the respect that it deserves.

It IS possible to climb over the Tongue and travel further up Clark Gully, but it is treacherous and recommended only for the fit and experienced, and it definitely is NOT a safe way to get to the GC "The Spot". Similarly, climbing down the gully from "The Spot" to get to this cache is possible, but be prepared to slide down the gully wall on loose gravel.

SOME ADDED INFO ON 12/29/2014:

Since this GC is so popular. I thought I would add some info. You can reach the GC "the SPOT" by climbing up either side of the gully. You will have to back down from the Tongue first. Strike a path to you left (west) and that's the shortest way to the SPOT. Strike a path to the right (east) and you will have to travel up the gully to where you can cross and then come down to the SPOT. Either way is a fun hike. Good luck and many thanks to the GCers who are taking the time to keep the GC in good shape.

NEW INFO ADDED ON 8/25/2018:

Because of the many downpours of rain this year there have been gully washers that have changed the course of flow of the creek. The GC is in the same spot, but it is now no longer right next to the stone-filled, water-filled creek.
