Geocache Description:

Join us at the Colorado River Nature Center (CRNC) where we will celebrate National Public Lands Day on Saturday, November 13, 2010. This is an opportunity for hands-on volunteers to improve and enhance the public lands of America.

With this CITO Event, geocachers will help to maintain this beautiful 500-acre wildlife area located at the west end of Ricardo Avenue in Bullhead City, Arizona. This land was set aside for riparian/wetland protection and compatible wildlife-oriented and passive recreation. It is cooperatively managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Arizona Game and Fish Department and the City of Bullhead City. Unfortunately, some people have used this area for illegal dumping and there are some places along the access road where we could use some help trimming back some tree limbs.

This is a free event with planned activities from 8AM to Noon. Let’s meet at the posted coordinates. Parking is available and we’ll fan out from there. We have 7 GPS units we can lend out with a deposit, but you are encouraged to bring your own.

This CITO Event is sponsored by the Bureau of Land Management, the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and the City of Bullhead City. We will provide trash bags, work gloves, trash grabbers, and clippers. Bring our own bug spray, sun block, hat, camera, and tradables.

There are more than 450 geocaches within a twenty mile radius of the Nature Center. There will be multiple new caches published for this event in the Nature Center. We’re planning geocaching competitions and games and will provide geocache prizes like official CITO trackable geocoins, trackable patches, geocaching hats, and a travel bug. The grand prize is a new GPS unit.

Geocachers will also have the chance to join the other activities planned for that day, which include:
• Free raffle and giveaways
• Food and refreshments
• Bird watching
• Fishing clinic
• Community Service Projects
• Repairs, Clean up
• Nature and history presentations
• Kayak from Rotary Park to the Nature Center
• Interactive information booths with wildlife artifacts
• 3-D archery

So bring the entire family. There’s something for everyone to enjoy on a nice November morning in the Mohave Desert. This is a rain or shine event. Please post a “will attend” log entry and give us an idea how many fellow geocachers you’ll bring with you.
