RV - BANÍCKE MÚZEUM

Založenie špecializovaného baníckeho a hutníckeho múzea Gemera bolo iniciované v roku 1902 Boršodsko-gemerským oddelením krajinskej uhorskej baníckej a hutníckej spolocnosti. V roku 1905 bola dokoncená stavba budovy múzea a v roku 1912 v nej sprístupnili prvú expozíciu baníctva, hutníctva a mineralógie. V roku 1912 vzniklo aj rožnavské Mestské múzeum. Obidve tieto inštitúcie sa spojili v roku 1943, ale múzejná cinnost po vojne bola obnovená až v roku 1956 otvorením novej bansko-hutníckej expozície.
Múzeum sídli v budove, ktorá je významnou pamiatkou na manufaktúrne obdobie v Rožnave. Vznikla v roku 1782 postupnou prestavbou dvoch jednoposchodových garbiarskych domov a do roku 1925 slúžila ako prevádzka Markovej kožiarskej manufaktúry. Pre potreby múzea bola upravená a zrekonštruovaná v rokoch 1973-1977.
Banícke múzeum vlastní bohaté zbierky z archeológie, histórie, dejín umenia, dejín techniky, najmä baníctva a hutníctva, prírodných vied - geológie a mineralógie.

Expozícia regionálnej histórie sa nachádza v hlavnej budove múzea a tematicky sa viaže na región horného Gemera.

Expozícia baníctva a hutníctva Gemera je umiestnená v pôvodnej úcelovej budove z roku 1905 na Šafárikovej ul.43, ktorá bola Baníckemu múzeu vrátená až v roku 1956.

Expozícia prírody slovenského krasu a prilahlých oblastí je v budove postavenej v rokoch 1903-1904 ako tzv. Františkin útulok, ktorá do otvorenia expozície (1981) slúžila ako prevádzková budova.

GALÉRIA Baníckeho múzea je umiestnená na Námestí baníkov 25 a konajú sa tu výstavy diel umelcov, prevažne rodákov z Rožnavy alebo oblasti Gemera.

The specialized mining and metallurgical museum of Gemer was set up in 1902 on the initiative of the Borsod-Gemer department of the provincial Hungarian mining and metallurgical society. In 1905 the museum building was completed and in 1912 the first exhibition of mining, metallurgy and mineralogy was open in it. That same year the Rožnava Museum was also founded - the two fused in 1943. Postwar activity was resumed in 1956 only by the opening of a mining-metallurgical exhibition.
Museum has its headquarters in a building which is a striking monument to the manufacturing period at Rožnava. It dates from 1782 - it originated from the reconstruction of two one-storey tanner's houses and served as the operational part of Mark's manufacture (until 1925). It was reconstructed and adapted for the needs of the museum in 1973-1977.
The Mining Museum owns abundant collections from archaeology, history, art history, history of technology, particularly mining and metallurgy, natural history - geology and mineralogy.

The Exhibition of Regional History is located in the museum's main building and thematically refers to the region of Upper Gemer.

The Exhibition of Mining and Metallurgy of Gemer is located in an original purpose-built building from 1905 at 43, Šafárik's Str. which was restituted to the Mining Museum in 1956 only.

The Exhibition of the Nature of the Slovak Karst and Adjoining Areas has two sections (living and nonliving nature).

The Exhibition of Fine Art is located in a building at 25, Miner's Sq. Temporary exhibitions of artist - predominantly natives of Rožnava or the Gemer Region - are also arranged here.
