A geocache at the site of the old school
Could this be Great Gransdens first geocache?
This roundabout is the site of the old Barnabas Oley primary school. i am not sure exactly how a school fitted in this area but things must have been a bit smaller back then. The school which is currently in the village about 200m up the road from here. Have you ever wondered why there is always a puddle near the entrance to the school along the wall of the old Alms Houses? The reason is beacuse (about 40 years ago) a pond was filled in just there and the ground doesn't allow the water to drain away therefore it is always wet just there.
Just next to the roundabout is a building called Porch House - this used to be the village butchers. The road leading Crow Tree street used to be red with blood running from the butchers. Just next to the butchers is number 3 which is the old Blacksmiths building.
