This Sacred Aboriginal themed cache is secreted in a deep wilderness area of the Bronte Creek. Expect a 10-15 minute walk northbound from Dundas Street.
Cache is detectable year round even in snow. Now equipped with a couple of fire tacks.
Parking on north side of Dundas Street on east side of Bronte bridge.
This Medicine Wheel Cache container has been "smudged". A smudging is a native tradition that removes negative energy from people/objects or locations by bathing them in smoke from one of the four sacred medicines. In this case, Sage was used to smudge the container. This will protect the location and contents of the cache. The cache container is a waterproof box covered with camo tape approximately 9"x7" and 3" deep.
CONTENTS OF THE MEDICINE WHEEL CACHE
Items that are associated to First Nations peoples. Medicine bags: Containing the four sacred medicines and other selected items.
SAGE- "MUSHKODEWUSK" in Ojibway. Removes negative energy and represents the Western direction. This is a strong medicine for woman
CEDAR- "GIIZHIK" in Ojibway. Represents the Southern direction. It is said to be the first tree created by Mother Earth.
SWEETGRASS "WIINGSHAK" in Ojibway. Represents the Northern direction and is said to be the hair of Mother Earth.
TOBACCO- "SEMA" in Ojibway. Represents the Eastern direction. It is said to be the first medicine given to man Nanabozo and used to speak to the creator. Man's thoughts were carried to the creator within the smoke.
BEWARE OF NANABUSH!
Nanabush "the rabbit" is an Ojibway spirit that plays tricks on you in the woods. Nanabush may even tamper with your GPS.
