Geocache Description:

Lac la Peche Creek

Lac la Peche is a beautiful lake 14km north of Blaine Lake and 5km west. I remember coming to this lake 18 years ago and there was nothing here but a bit of sandy beach. Now this lake is a well developed resort area with many cabins gracing its lake shore. It also has a fully equipped year round lodge facility. Information on the lodge can be found at (visit link) We have been here a couple of times this summer and decided that cachers were missing out on some spectacular scenery and decided it was time this lake had its first cache.

The cache is a largish ammo box hidden at the exit creek of the lake. Caution should be used nearing the creek as there was quite a strong current the day we hid the cache and we had some challenges getting the boat back to deeper water as the water is shallow and there are lots of rocks. You can park your water craft just to the north of the creek entrance and with some minor bush wacking get to the cache site. As far as we know there is no roads close to the cache so the only option is by water although there are ATV tracks in the area so that might be a possibility ( we will await log entries). This cache obviously will not be available at all times of the year (during the fall before the lake freezes and in the spring before break-up). The Lodge rents boats and canoes during the summer season. We are making this a 5X5 for now but may lower the difficulty in the future.

No matter how you get to this cache please make sure that the equipment you use is working 110%. If you are using a boat make sure you have all of the approved equipment for your craft. It would be best if you did not attempt this one alone as it is in a bit of an isolated location and hidden from the shore. Be aware that this area is abundant with wildlife including bears so be respectful as this is their home and they will try to protect it. Make sure somebody knows where you are going and when you expect to return and do not rely on cell coverage as it is poor to non existent in the cache area.

First to find prize is a pair of “Rider mittens” and a $5 Tim Hortons card

Congratulations to Candlelight forge on the FTF

**Update** All the land to the east of the cache is private property so the cache is only available from the lake side the way we intended it
