Die Koppensteine (Kopfsteine) 
Die Koppensteine findet man ca. 500 m westlich von Calden/Fürstenwald am Fuße des Dörnbergs. Der Hauptbestandteil des Dörnbergmassivs sind vor allem Muschelkalke (Fossile, kalkige Ablagerungen eines früheren Meeresbeckens). Den Mantel des Berges bildeten gewaltige Tuffsteinmassen, in die während des Tertiär, eruptives, basaltisches Magma eindrang, das zum Teil durch Schlote an die Oberfläche trat.
Die Kopfsteine sind erkaltete Basaltschlote, die durch Wind und Wetter freigelegt wurden.
Du kannst den Earthcache loggen, sende mir aber per Email die Antworten auf folgende Fragen.
- Wieviel Meter Erdreich wurden, seit der Entstehung der Basaltfelsen, durch Erosion mindestens abgetragen? (Höhe größter Felsen)
- Welchen Durchmesser hatte der größte Basaltschlot? (Berechnung aus dem Umfang)
- Wie alt sind die Basaltsäulen? (Zu lesen vor Ort)

The Koppenensteine (Kopfsteine) 
The Koppensteine are approx. 500 m to the west of Calden/Fürstenwald at the foot of the "Dörnberg". Mussel lime (Fossil, calcareous depositions of a former sea) is the prevailing part of the Dörnberg massif. The mantle of the mountain was formed by enormous masses of tuff stone. In that, during tertiary, eruptive, basaltic magma penetrated, which partly stepped to surface by chimneys .
The Kopfsteine are cooled off basalt chimneys which were exposed by weather-conditioned erosion.
You may log this earthcache, but email me the answers of following questions.
- How many metres of earth odes were at least outworn by erosion, since the origin of the basalt rocks? (Height of the biggest rocks)
- Which diameter had the biggest basalt chimney? (Calculation from the extent)
- How old are the basalt columns? (To read on spot)
Logs without or wrong answers will be deleted!
