England's Oldest Live Cache 10th Anniversary/BBH37 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Simply Paul: With the next incarnation of this cache series announced, it's the right time to put this one to bed. Thank you once more to everyone who helped make it a special night. I love it when a plan comes together [:)]
Don't forget to book out any TBs or coins left in it (I had a good look around before we left and saw none) and hope to see you Woburn way later this month!

Geocache Description:

A pub event to celebrate 10 glorious years of England's oldest surviving geocache, Brad Yuan and Steph Adler's GC171 View from Coombe Hill, which was listed on January 14th 2001.

The Russell Arms

This event is also Bucks/Beds/Herts Border-ing on the Ridiculous #37!

The 37th of these monthly geocaching get-togethers for 'cachers from Bucks, Beds, Herts and -due in part to the special bit of history- far beyond. A mid-week (well, Friday), evening event for idle 'caching chitchat. You know the score by now! But this one will have a few fresh twists...

When: Friday January the 14th 2011, from 6.30pm 'til 11pm.

Where: The Russell Arms, Butlers Cross, HP17 0TS 01296 622618 at the co-ords above - within walking distance of the Oldest Cache in England. It's a steep climb though - be warned.

Why: Because it's a nice spot for a New Year cache meet that's close to Britain's second oldest existing Geocache - and England's oldest. It's also been inspired by Scotsbob's GC2BXRY 10 year anniversary of Scotland's First meet (December 15th 2010) and Goldpot's GC253NT GC4E England’s First! event (June 6th 2010) - Also Alibags made me... blackmail is an ugly word, that's all I'm saying. :P

Who: Nostalgic Geocachers from far and wide, plus those wishing to hear terrible stories of when you might have to drive 30 miles to find your nearest cache. The horror!

What: If it's like the past 36, it'll be a cache meet to swap coins, TBs, other travel items and caching stories of the 'good old days' :) Also suitible for newbies, caching kids and geohounds. If there's interest in a 'torch-lit procession up onto the hill for a very chilly dance around the monument and (optional) human sacrifice' I think it would be fun to add one of those to the evening's programme too. Also the return of pressganging for the February event.

Coming Soon: The February event is in the pipeline...
