Geocache Description:

This is a magnetic nano.

With special thanks to Natural England for supporting geocaching in this Site of Special Scientific Interest and for their stewardship of the area so that we can all enjoy its beauty.

Goonhilly Downs is a heathland area of great scientific, historic and archaeological interest. Please be aware of the need to nurture this area by keeping to the paths and caring for the environment.

A circular walk on well laid out, level paths is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Parking is available at N50 02.828 W005 10.348.

RAF Drytree was built by the RAF in the Second World War to provide low level raid cover for the south coast of Cornwall and the Western Approaches. A number of roofless buildings and shelters survives. Barred gates prevent entry but it is possible to view the structure of the buildings. More information is available on the information board in the car park. Also check out the Defective Detectives’ cache RAF Dry Tree GC1DTXQ.

The cache is not inside a building but will give a good view of the interior of one of the shelters. Please try not to drop it through the grille – you’ll see what we mean!
