Geocache Description:

From 1902 to 1923 a steam tramway ran from Parramatta to Castle Hill. The trams carried passengers and farm produce. In 1923 the tramway was modified to standard railway and joined the main western line at Westmead. The Parramatta to Rogans Hill railway was closed in 1932.

Not much is left a Baulkham Hills but this park with the sign made of sleepers and rails celebrates our nearly forgotten railway. The cache is a magnetic keyholder.

Thanks to Imgettingannoyed who began this forgotten railway adventure with "Forgotten Railway - Castle Hill" cache. This cache is one of a series of Forgotten railway caches.
The history of the tram way and railway are vividly described in "The Apricot Mail" and "Penny-a-section, tuppence-a-case" by Bruce S. Irwin
