Geocache Description:


A small park which marks the first camping site of Janet McGregor and John Cameron.

Janet and John were the first European Settlers in the area following the Rangitikei land Purchase in 1849 and the family walked up the coast from Wellington to this site.

There is also an old horse trough dedicated to the King of England on the site.

Please take care parking, and crossing the road, this is a very busy section of highway.
