Welcome to Joseph Davis Park, originally named Lower Niagara State Park. It was originally an orchard purchased from the Hopkins family in 1961. 8 years later, another 98 acres was purchased and added to the 358 acre park you see here today! In 1970, the name of the park was changed to Joeseph Davis Park, in honor of a man who, among other things, served as president of the Niagara Frontier State Parks Commission for over 20 years. You will find typical park-things to do here, including a disc golf course. But this park is widely known for its wildlife and bird population. Because the park is ideally situated along a migratory route, it is visited yearly by various songbirds. Also, because the park is large enough to contain 4 different habitats (grassland, field, shrubland and woodland,) it supports a large variety of birds which may otherwise not be seen in such close proximity. There are various signs set up throughout the park to show you what kind of birds to look for, but you may want to bring along a good bird book and a better pair of binoculars!

This park is free and open from 8am until dusk, so please no night caching. There is room for a few cars to park at the trailhead. Hunting season is upon us. so please remember to wear orange!
