Geocache Description:

Top of Mt. Lemmon, Coronado National Forest, N.E. of Tucson, AZ. Fairly flat, near the paved road about .1 mile from parking area at about 9100 feet.

Cache is an 6"x8" tupperware container. This is my first cache and is in honor of my recently departed Dad - a baseball, golf "items" and Colgate University sticker - reminders of him. The road to the top of Mt. Lemmon is closed after the first significant snowfall and remains closed until the Forest Service deems the road is clear and no more snowfalls are anticipated for the winter. So call ahead to the visitor center. The road is closed about 1.6 miles from the top, but the cache is still reachable (assuming not alot of snow accumulation) by walking the road up from the ski area. The hike up from the ski area to the cache on the road is about 1.9 miles and all up hill. The sign posted this year(2021)says the gate is closed from December 15th until March 1st.
