A place for a stop for morning and afternoon teas or a packed lunch
This is a very small little "village" consisting of a handful of beautiful old homes and one very modern B & B.
Do drive slowly as the houses are right on the road.
Also do not park on the highway but take the turn off for safety reasons.
There is a lovely place to park on what was once the "main road" and even the most recent park of the "main road" has now been blocked off.
Turn off highway at S 33 26.395 E149 30.378
Enter at S 33 26.224 E 149 30.378
"Evans Plains" was named after the surveyor and explorer George Evans.
After the crossing of the Blue Mountains Evans followed the original route, over the mountains to Mount Blaxland. He then with 4 others, on 18 November 1813 exploring along the Fish River where he discovered a new river which he named the Macquarie River. Evans was enthusiastic about the country around Bathurst
On 13 May 1815 Evans left Bathurst and began exploring to the west.
Once, Evans Plains had a flour mill, a church and a hall and like many little villages around this area, would have been a thriving centre.
