This is a cache dedicated to the old Hwy 53. This was the only way at one time to go between Alexandria to Carthage. I used to ride a school bus down both old and new Highway 53 when I was a student at New Middleton and Gordonsville.
When I was a kid, the "new road" came through. Everyone up in Alexandria and Brush Creek still refer to this as the "new road". The cache is located alongside the old highway bed that is now all grown up. Parking is available on the "old road".
