Geocache Description:

It was on October 2, 1950 that United Feature Syndicate Unveiled "Peanuts". Besides appearing in creator Charles "Sparky" Schulz's hometown Minneapolis Tribune, the strip ran in only six other newspapers. Today, sixty years later, people of all ages all over the globe have a special place for Charlie Brown and his friends in their hearts.

In his book, "Schulz and Peanuts: A Biography," David Michaelis writes about that first day: "Schulz's friend Jim Sasseville asked a newsdealer if they had any papers with Peanuts in them. The reply: 'No, and we don't have any with popcorn either.'" Schulz never liked what they called his "Lil' Folks."

Thanks to my older brothers who left copies of Peanuts paperbacks around the house, I've been an admirer of Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang ever since I was young enough to read.

The cache is on a bend on a country road and has been placed on private property with permission from the owner. There is a spot to pull off on the northeast side of the corner. Take your time and don't worry about the people in the house across the street. They understand.
