This isn't a potluck, in fact the event is being held BEFORE
dinner so you can stop by for the awards ceremonies and then head
on to evening activities.
If you want to participate in the RACE10, Starting immediately,
get out in the fall sunshine and start hiding qualifying
caches.
All RACE10 caches should be small, medium or large
sized. Micros are only allowed if they are 'stages' of a multi -
(the final must be SM, MED or LG). All caches should
contain a log book, pencil and some trading items. All RACE10
caches must be winter friendly. Caches must be placed in the
Greater Victoria area (within the boundaries of Sooke, Goldstream
Park and the Saanich Peninsula).
Categories are as follows:
- Scariest cache
- Orange & black cache
- Funniest cache
- Best night cache
- Best cache "in plain sight"
- Best Halloween themed cache
- Best puzzle or multi cache
You can hide as many 'creative' caches as you like and they can
be voted into whichever category the finder sees fit. Each cacher
(or team) can only vote on one cache per category.
Mtn-Man has requested that all RACE10 caches be
submitted by Tuesday, October 26th 2010. All
caches MUST include RACE10 at the beginning of the
title (ie. RACE10: Halloween Howler). In the
'short description' please write "This cache has been
placed for the RACE10 event, held Oct 29-30, 2010. This cache was
released to the public on Oct 28th but should not be located prior
to noon, Oct 29th. The caches for the event are released early so
that the caching community has an opportunity to solve puzzles and
plan their routes prior to the event start."
The earlier your cache is submitted to Mtn-Man the easier his
job will be as the release date approaches.
Mtn-Man will be publishing the RACE10 caches at
4pm on Thursday, October 28th. As these caches are published there
will be a bookmark list on this event page which may help you keep
track of them.
The RACE10 will commence at NOON on Friday, October
29th. Please DO NOT seek out any of the
RACE10 caches before NOON on Friday, October 29th. At that time you
can search out as many RACE10 caches as you like. You can search in
teams, with a buddy, with a dog, individually . . . whatever
strikes your fancy. If you'd like to have a scorecard to take with
you on the RACE you can print a copy at www.gcgv.ca. To ensure your votes are tallied
please return to the wrap-up event by 4pm on Saturday,
October 30th.

There is a map of RACE10 caches listed HERE
Starting at 4pm on Saturday, October 30th the RACE10 wrap-up
will commence. You should have your scorecard completed by this
time and submit it to the markers for review. Scorecards will be
tallied and all the RACE10 winners will be declared and prizes
awarded. Please Note: Even though this event is called
'RACE' it is not an actual race. There is no prize for FTF or most
caches found. It's all about getting out there and experiencing all
the creative hides.
