This grade of the Mill Park Line just south of the Ft. Tuthill fairgrounds and the Luke AFB recreation area was named for Patrick Murphy the logging forman of the Arizona Lumber & Timber Co.
From the parking lot at the foot of the water tower proceed south up the hill on the forest road past the locked gate. The road is marked 'Flagstaff Archer archery range'. You will not go that far.
The cache, a small cammoed plastic pill bottle, is placed on (in) the old railroad berm which turns west from the forest road past the cut. The berm is now a popular hiking and biking trail so be aware of muggles.
The Mill Park Line was active from 1903 until 1925 when the areas were logged out and the rails recycled to other locations.
