Die Stixer Wanderdüne im Bereich der Stixer Sandberge
ist Bestandteil des Nationalparks Elbtalaue in
Niedersachsen.
The Dune of Stixe in the area of the Stixe sandhills
is part of the National Park Elbtalaue in
Niedersachsen.
Die schon seit 1982 als Naturschutzgebiet ausgewiesene
Düne entstand nach der letzten Eiszeit vor ca. 10000 Jahren.
Die Düne ist heute noch aktiv .
Talsande wurden durch Winderosion aus dem Elbe-Urstromtal
fortgetragen und in dem Bereich von Stixe aufgetürmt.
Es handelt sich um eine typische Parabeldüne mit einer
Haupt - und Nebenachse.
Der Luvhang der Düne ist ca. 150 Meter lang und steigt auf
12 Meter an . Früher war die Düne um ein Vielfaches größer ,
durch Aufforstung im 19. Jahrhundert ist die Wanderbewegung
sehr stark eingeschränkt worden und die Größe hat sich
dadurch auch verringert .
Heute umfasst das Dünengebiet noch knapp 9,5 Hektar .
Ein imposantes Beispiel für die Existenz von Dünen nicht nur an
Meeresküsten, sondern auch im Binnenland in der Nähe von
Flußtälern.
Vom Parkplatz aus ca. 400m den markierten Weg durch den
wunderschönen Kiefernwald entlang, erreicht man eine Infotafel
mit weiteren interessanten Ausführungen.
Von dort aus sind es nochmal 400m bis zur Aussichtsplattform.
Bitte nutzt die angelegten Wege um die Natur zu schonen !
Um diesen Earthcache loggen zu dürfen, müsst ihr folgende
Aufgaben lösen :
1.) Wie hoch über NN liegt der höchste Punkt der Düne ? ( gemessen auf der Aussichtsplattform )
2.) Welches sind die Beweise dafür, dass diese Düne noch heute
aktiv wandert ?
3.) Wann wurde der Bereich der Düne mit Kiefern aufgeforstet ?
Optional ladet bitte mit dem Logeintrag ein Foto von euch/oder eurem GPS, aufgenommen auf der Aussichtsplattform (siehe Beispielfoto), hoch.
Alle Aufgaben lassen sich vor Ort lösen.

Nach dem Absenden der Antworten könnt ihr gleich loggen.

Logs ohne gleichzeitige Antwortmail werden kommentarlos gelöscht.
Wer mit anderen Cachern zusammen vor Ort unterwegs war, sendet bitte selbst seine Lösungmail unter Angabe seines Nickname. Bitte keine Sammelantworten für mehrere Cacher!
Ansonsten wird der Earthcache als nicht selbst gelöst angesehen und der Log gelöscht.

The Dune is designated as a nature reserve since 1982.
It was created after the last ice age about 10,000 years ago.
Sand from the Elbe river valley was taken away by
wind erosion and was piled up in the area of Stixe.
This is a typical "Parabel"Dune with a
main - and minor axis.
The luff slope of the dune is approx. 150 metres long and rises on 12 metres. Earlier the dune was bigger around a multiple, the travelling movement has been limited by reforestation in the 19-th century very strongly and the size has thereby also decreased. Today the dune area still encloses just 9.5 hectares.
An impressive example of the existence of Dunes not only at
sea coasts,
but also inland in the vicinity of River valleys.
From the parking area about 400m along the marked path
through the beautiful pine forest,
you reach an interesting information - board.
From there it is again 400m to the viewing - platform.
To log this cache, you must solve the following tasks:
1) How high above sea level is the highest point of the Dune? (measured at the viewing platform)
2) What is the evidence for the actively moving of this Dune ?
3) When was the area of the dune planted with pines ?
Optional take a picture of you and / or your GPS at the
viewing platform (example picture) and upload it with the log entry.
All tasks can be solved locally.
Send the answers to the questions 1-3 to me. For correct answers you'll get the log release.
