Adjacent to Jefferson School, Jefferson Park was renamed May 19, 1979 for the former elementary principal and long-time resident, Jack Van Voorst. Current size: 2.92 acres.
My son played many baseball games at this park and now he plays soccer at the Northern end of the field. (That's not him in the photo btw.) I wondered why there was no cache here to mark this place....so now there is one.
Note: The hint is pretty much a dead giveaway so if you want to search first please read the hint later. WARNING: The Illinois Central Rail line is active but it is securely fenced in and is not reachable from this park or the nearby school. DO NOT attempt to cross the fence. The cache is easily found from the safe side of this fence. There is absolutely no need to be in the weeds looking for this one. Congratulations to sgauss for the FTF! Although PLEASE do not follow his strategy...Do NOT hop the fence. You can't see it from there.
